Sick Monkey
So, I have a sick baby on my hands. While, the timing isn't great for doing anything fun this weekend, it is good timing for not having to go to day care. Ian started to get sick on Monday with a little cough. By Thursday, he had started wheezing, and by Friday afternoon, he was worse. Of course, by the time day care called, our pediatrician was out of the office. Her nurse suggested that if he was wheezing, we should take him to the ER. So, Jim picked him up from day care, and I rearranged some patients, and off Ian and I went to the emergency room.

It didn't take us that long to be seen, maybe about 30 minutes. Ian had a chest x-ray, they did some nose swabs for flu and RSV and then he ended up getting a breathing treatment and some oral steroids to help. The ER pediatrician diagnosed Ian with bronchiolitis, which is inflammation of his bronchioles in his lungs. He sent us home with a home nebulizer and more oral steroids. Today, he was running a fever and was just feeling pretty puny. Hopefully, he'll be feeling better by Tuesday. If not, Dad will probably stay home with him.

Let me tell you how hard it is to give an 8 month old a breathing treatment! Oh my goodness! He's very good about pushing the cannula away, and he gets bored very easy. We're not using the mask, just because he won't keep it on. It's just easier for me to hold it in his face and let him breathe that way. He tolerates the oral medicine well, which is good. What really stinks is that he's supposed to get this treatment every 4hours, so we were up at midnight and four  this morning...at least he let me sleep in until 7:45 this morning!

We're not sure where he got sick...he's the only one at day care sick, so we don't think that was the culpret. It may have happened after we went swimming at Auntie Jo's new apartment pool. It wasn't cold out, but maybe that's what started it.

So, that's the new stuff going on in our household. I'm really hoping Ian feels better soon, because I don't know how long my patience will stay intact with the (nearly) constant crying. Prayers, please!

So much to say...
I am so bad about this blogging thing. I have two possible reasons for this. First, I am a working mom. I get up in the morning, get ready, get my son ready, and off we go. I pick Ian up from daycare around 4:45 and we head home. We get home by 5:30 and play until Ian gets really cranky, around 6:45. Ian then eats, and depending on the day, takes a bath. He has another (breast) feeding and then down for the night by 8pm. At this time, Jim and I eat dinner and I try to be in bed by 10pm to start the next day. So, obviously, since I'm at work and away from him the majority of the day, I just want to spend time with my little guy before he's in bed. Secondly, I'm just lazy.

Anyway, a lot has happened since my last post. On August 16, Ian pulled himself up to standing for the first time. It was very exciting, and very scary at the same time because he is now getting into even more things! He is crawling like crazy and is very quick. I'll put him down in the living room and run to the bedroom for something, and he's right on my heels. He is also developing quite the diva personality. He does not like to take naps, even though I KNOW he's tired, and he is perfectly happy to pitch a fit. For the most part, though, he's quite an easy going kid when he's not overly tired. He loves to give kisses and will crawl and climb over everything. I am a little worried that he's going to get kicked out of day care because he is a bully. He has no problem bowling the other kids over to get what he wants. He also is a hair puller. I really hope he doesn't get kicked out of daycare!

We're planning a trip to Michigan the end of September. This will be our first airplane trip, and I'm not looking forward to it. We have wonderful friends and family up there that are letting us borrow a car seat and a pack and play so we don't have to carry that with us. The stroller will be bad enough!  We're also heading to Colorado in November to see my mom. I know she wants to show off her grandson, and the prices are just too good to pass up!

Well, there's lots more going on, I just don't have the energy to write about it. There's also pictures, but again, they're on the camera and I just don't have the energy to upload them. Hopefully, with the holiday weekend, I will be able to get that done, as well as clean my house.

Hopefully, I will do a better job of updating this in the future, but I make no promises....

Sitting up
Ian has been sitting up on his own for a while now, but tonight, he went from lying on his belly to sitting up. I can't believe how big my little boy is getting!

Ian started crawling for the first time today. He has a pretty mean army crawl. He's not very fast, but he can get where he wants without too much frustration!

A great weekend!
The Fleming family had a wonderful weekend! Jim had Saturday and Sunday off, so we tried to take advantage it. Saturday, after Ian's morning nap, we went to the Golden Gate community pool. It was $6 for all of us, and we had a great time. The only problem is that Jimmy got a good burn. We both really took care of Ian, but forgot about about us! We were there for about an hour and then went out for dinner and a Blizzard. Oh, I love Blizzards!

Sunday was an errand day. We went to church, then took Jim's car to get serviced (60,000 mile check up) and then went to lunch and got Jim a haircut. Needless to say, Ian did not get either of his naps in, so it was cranky baby time.

For the last 2 weeks, Jim and I have been practicing the "cry it out" method of getting Ian to sleep. It was something the pediatrician suggested at our last visit. Let me tell you, it has been pretty tough for me. I have a 30 minute limit. However, he has not gone past that limit. It seems to be working. Just tonight, Jim put Ian down around 8, and he was out about 5 minutes later.

With the sleeping situation, Ian has now figured out how to roll over and his preferred sleeping position is on his stomach. We'll put him down on his back, and he'll be on his stomach when we check on him. He's also starting to rock on his knees, and we'll often find him asleep with his butt up in the air.

I'm having difficulty posting pictures....I'll try tomorrow!

Has it really been 4 weeks since my last post?
I find that extremely hard to believe! A lot has happened in the last month, I'm sure, but I'm having a hard time remembering it all! I guess I'll try to hit what I can remember, and maybe post later, if I remember anything else!

First off, Ian and I have had a lovely cold, starting June 15th. Ian's was gone in about a week, but mine decided to linger...for about 4 weeks! I still have a little bit of a cough, but it is much better! Because of this cold, Ian stopped sleeping through the night. And let me tell you, that was really crappy! Going back to waking up every two hours did not help with fighting of the cold. However, now that we're all on the mend, Ian's back to sleeping through the night again. YAY!

My mom came to visit on June 26th. It was really nice having her here, and I know she enjoyed being around her "main man" Ian. She was here for about 11 days, and kept Ian during the week.  While I know she loved it, I'm sure her shoulder's are glad she's back home!  While she was here, friends of ours from the Orlando area, the Tiedemanns, came down to meet Ian and visit with us. It was so nice to see them!

Ian has also mastered the art of rolling over (both ways) and sitting up. He can not pull himself to sitting, but will play happily for a long time if placed in sitting. We've also discovered if we put him on his knees, he starts to rock. Not quite ready to crawl, but definitely getting there. I'm not sure how I feel about that, though!

We had an uneventful 4th of July. Friday night, we tried to go to the fireworks, and actually made it to the mall, but Ian was so cranky by 8:30, we decided it wasn't worth it. So, Jim picked up some fireworks from the store and we shot them off in our front yard Saturday night. Ian wasn't too impressed, but the loud noises didn't seem to bother him.

My mom went home July 6th, and we've been trying to get back to normal since. Jim's been really busy at work, and the extra hours don't make me too happy, since he's not home as much, but I will learn to deal with that. Sunday and Tuesday nights are the worst, because I'm home with Ian by myself, and that can sometimes be very challenging.

I guess that's all I can think of right now. Enjoy a few pictures!

Here's some random pictures of Ian, enjoy!

I just wanted to say congratulations to my wonderful husband for his promotion! We found out about a week and a half ago that Jim had finally gotten his promotion to Assistant Deli Manager for Publix! We've been waiting for this for about a year, and had put it into God's hands. He had done everything that was required of him, so it was only a matter of time. And, it finally happened! It's about a $10,000/year pay raise, with higher bonuses. It will be so nice to have a little breathing room in the budget now! He starts at his new store tomorrow, and he's so excited. He doesn't have to wear his uniform anymore, so we've been stocking up on nice shirts, pants and ties. He is going to be with his old boss, Tim, who really pushed for his promotion.  I think he's going to be a wonderful manager...much better than I!

So, congratulations, Jimmy! I am so very proud of you!
